Sony Xperia Z3+ preview: First look

The coming of Sony Xperia Z3+
The Sony Xperia Z3+ has just been announced recently creating a massive excitement to all LG smartphone fans globally. It's also been a while that the other major players in the smartphone industry released their flagships on store shelves, and now it seems that Sony's waited long enough to reveal the most awaited successor to the Xperia Z3.

Sony released its pioneer top-end device, the Xperia Z, way back in January 2013 and they've been noted as the only company to put out two flagships in a year, one in the spring and another in the fall. That two-fold strategy has been proven.

As it's name suggests, Sony Xperia Z3+ is indeed a sort of an update to the previous release, even by the company's very own standards. So much so, that it didn't deserve a bump in the numeral and only got a "plus".

What's in it with the +?
You might be wondering, the "plus" has brought us the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with a faster Cat. 6 LTE and a 32GB storage capacity as the only option, as opposed to the 16GB/32GB of the latter release. A new 5.1MP front camera is a perfect addition too to keep up with the current selfie trends on mobile devices. A battery capacity decrease has brought the 3,100mAh to 2,930mAh. The phone though compensates for that with it since Z3+ have a thinner and slightly thinner profile. The otherwise the same looking screen comes even brighter making you appreciate the display even more.

Some few design tweaks seen are the charging pogo pins and the cover of the USB port go, but good to note that the headline IP68 hasn't been sacrificed.

Some little downsides of the Sony Xperia Z3+
  • Non user-replaceable battery
  • No wireless charging
  • Qualcomm Quick charger not included in the retail package
  • Screen has the same specs third generation in a row, when rivals have mostly moved to 1440p
  • Battery downgrade hardly justified
  • Expected retail pricing is too steep

On this preview, you might have noticed that there is no significant change on the device but this update still is something look forward to and be excited about. ANDROIDteku will cover Sony Xperia Z3+ on a full review very soon.
